Navigating Life At 65…

Turning 65 takes on a new rhythm and brings a new set of experiences and challenges. Let’s not forget the challenges I’ve had with many experiences to get to this age, in which I can take with me for all the new ones in front of me. At 65, it greatly depends on one’s health and circumstances with a preference for life. As I ponder on where I am and where I can be – it was an easy one to do as retirement is way out of thought at the moment, at least another 2 years in front of me before that happens, but all good. It’s a part of my life that will happen, but not today.

Financial planning becomes crucial at any stage of life, and that’s something I’ve had to watch all my life while bringing up the kids as a single dad. It is especially important now for securing a comfortable retirement. It becomes a little bit crucial as I’m hoping to enjoy every bit of the retirement years that lie ahead.

My health is one aspect that I have needed to work on for most of my life. I’m one of those guys who smells a pizza walking past the shop and my metabolism goes, “There’s an extra pound added to my body.” So, I try to watch what I eat and drink. The social side is pretty good and is at a great level, even though I won’t see a lot of the boys I work with when I retire. But, all is good, haha.

Pursuing Passions & My Bucket List…

Yes, we all have dreams and goals to achieve. One of mine is to travel overseas next year. Vietnam and Thailand are a few destinations that I have contemplated. The following year, I would love to explore Europe, including Spain, Italy, Scotland, and Ireland. My goal is to reach a high level of blogging proficiency, where I can earn an income to support my retirement. Why not have a goal and see where it takes me? Let’s not forget Australia, where I can indulge in fishing and capture stunning photos of sunsets and sunrises, accompanied by the beauty of its landscapes. High on my list is watching my grandkids grown and the kids keep growing with life as the great humans they have become.

To do all this, I have to keep a sharp mind and good health, set goals and achieve them, stay focused on the future of my life, enjoy every day, and work with my experiences in life to overcome the challenges that come my way. Getting older is not an omen; it’s a time of reflection, self-discovery, and enjoying the rewards earned over a lifetime. While everyone’s experiences may differ, for me, it’s an age that can offer opportunities for personal growth, meaningful connections, and the pursuit of happiness. 65 is okay and it’s going to help me understand that my life is just ahead of me.
