I’d have to say he’s my best mate.

I’m so lucky to have a great mate that is one of four legs; he’s a Cane Corso, a breed known for its strength and loyalty. At first, I was a bit reluctant to get one for the house after hearing a few stories about their size and temperament, but in all seriousness, he has proven to be one of the most loyal and loving dogs you could ask for. His gentle demeanor and protective nature make him not just a pet but a true member of the family. Every day, he brings joy and companionship, whether we’re playing fetch in the yard or simply lounging on the couch together. Watching him grow has been an incredible experience, and I can’t imagine my life without my furry friend by my side.

His temperament with the family is very unique in some ways; he knows Ava is only a young girl of 5, full of energy and curiosity, and Tara is a boutique lady of the house, always adorned with elegance and style. He is so gentle and moves with the greatest of ease, slowly with each step, aware of where they are at all times, as if he instinctively understands their needs and feelings. Kado and I share a slightly different dynamic, but gentle and graceful are his movements with us as well, reflecting a profound respect and understanding. He knows how to balance affection with playfulness, and while he can be soft and soothing, the big boyish enthusiasm of loving to play and also crave a lot of attention is always present, illuminating the room with his vibrant spirit and infectious joy, making every moment spent together feel special and cherished.

Tummer patiently waits every night for me or the kids to go out the back with him, or to take him for his walk, his excited energy evident as he anticipates our time together. When we walk him, he’s around four feet in distance from us, very observant and always keen to explore every corner of our neighbourhood, joyfully letting everyone know that we’re his buddies. What I love about my mate is that it doesn’t matter what my mood is when I arrive home from work or after an outing; he greets me with boundless enthusiasm, his tail wagging furiously. His happiness is infectious, and it’s a constant reminder of what it means to be a good friend. Lol, he loves you for who you are and what you are, never judging but always there, ready to lend a listening ear, or a comforting presence during my tough days. It’s these little moments together that truly deepen our bond, making each day brighter and more fulfilling.
