Quotes On Health Tuesday.

Well, as I rise in the morning, looking around as I do, taking off the sleep paralysis mask I’ve worn as I’ve got older, I can’t help but reflect on how life has shifted and changed around me. The sunlight slowly seeps through the curtains, casting gentle rays across the room, reminding me of how every new day brings fresh hopes and challenges. Each morning feels like an awakening, not only from sleep but from a deeper haze of dreams that often linger, and as I peel away the mask, I feel a sense of relief wash over me. It’s as if I’m shedding the burdens of the night, and with each passing moment, I become more aware of my surroundings, the familiar sights invoking both nostalgia and a hint of anxiety about the passage of time.

Sleep paralysis isn’t fear…It’s the moment you wake up in two worlds.

Go for one test, to find you have something different.

Two years ago I went to have a test for blood, blood pressure, sugar diabetes, heart—the usual full medical once a year as we do when we get older. It’s a practice I’ve come to accept as a part of aging, a routine check to ensure I am in good health and everything is functioning as it should. During this visit, I was asked the question, “Do you sleep well at night?” Because I do, I was caught off guard; why would you ask? Sleeping has always been a solace for me, a time to recharge and escape the daily stresses. As the story goes, I got tested for my sleeping habits, all wired up with electrodes attached to monitor my brain waves, heart rate, and breathing patterns. The room was dimly lit, and I felt a bit like a science experiment. After waiting for what felt like an eternity, the result was delivered: “You’re not sleeping well at all, your oxygen is down, and you’re all over the bed with continuous movement.” I was surprised to learn that my cherished slumber was not as peaceful as I had thought.

You can’t help getting older. But you don’t have to get old

It’s funny you know – I was so stubborn about my health that I thought to myself, what does that doctor know? I don’t need that machine, especially when it costs $2000.00, a considerable amount to just spend on a device. Again, it’s like chewing your shoe, a metaphor for how wrong I was to dismiss the doctor’s advice. After finally trying it out, I certainly feel better when I wake up, more refreshed and ready to tackle the day ahead. My mind feels clearer, and I think better, enabling me to stay focused and productive. I don’t seem so tired during the day anymore, and it has made a noticeable difference in my overall energy levels. I still get my days as we do. The siesta is not even thought about lol, as I find myself enjoying a whole new lease on life. Thanks to having made that investment in my well-being.

As I get older… I realize sometimes the bad things that happen to us wind up putting us on the path to better things that will ever happen to us.

Our bodies are like cars; as we get older, we require more services and parts. It doesn’t matter how well we look after ourselves; parts of our body break down through wear and tear, influenced by the way we live and what we do as we grow. Whether it’s engaging in very hard physical work, participating in sports, or simply what we eat each day, our lifestyle choices play a crucial role in our overall health. Additionally, indulging in alcohol or using drugs for whatever reason can lead to significant deterioration of health, transforming the body into a doctor’s dream with a multitude of ailments. The effects of time and lifestyle can manifest in numerous ways, from joint pain and fatigue to chronic conditions that are often preventable. Staying mindful of our choices and their long-term implications can be the key to maintaining a more resilient and healthier body over time.

You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.

What I have learned over the many years is that the way we live directly impacts how our body responds to our health as we get older. Our daily habits, including diet, exercise, and mental well-being, play a crucial role in determining our overall health as we age. It is essential to adopt a lifestyle that promotes physical activity and balanced nutrition to support our bodies in their natural aging process. Furthermore, understanding the importance of maintaining a positive mindset and managing stress effectively can significantly enhance our quality of life. As we navigate through different life stages, being proactive and making informed choices can lead to a healthier and more fulfilling life in our later years.
