My Parents At My Age Were Very Active In Life.

What can I say my parents are still alive and very well at the ripe age of 95 & 86 with the attitude of still loving life.

When Dad was 65 he saved a lot of money and us as four kids put in for dad to cycle his way around – Wales, Ireland, Scotland an England for four months that was number one on his bucket list,he was super fit as he was still cycling and racing over 50s with winning quiet a few races.

We didn’t see dad for nearly five months but all was good, he had built a following as the media couldn’t believe that this mad Aussie was travelling around on his own by cycling, the funny thing is dad is an Irish men himself born in Ireland his parents shifted over when he was in his teens he loved every bit of his dream of many years.

Mum what can I say what an amazing lady and I can say that very much so. At 60 mum did her first marathon of 42k, she had been trains for five years for it and doing half marathons.

In the 55 an over bracket she come in third , wow she was so wrapped mum joined a running club, won medals after medals with some amazing trophies on the wall.

At 68 mum decided to do walk marathons 12k races, boy she just got stronger and stronger as the years went on. I went to a race as I did with out front by 2 or 3 hundred meters and she blew a knee I can’t recall seeing mum so devastated as she was know that this could be the end of competition at 76 that was hard to except Lol I say that in a good way.

Recovery was around 5 months of true determination and grit, mum knew no more marathons, so what do u do ( walk 20k every third day and 10k every other hahah, mum is 86 and still walking 5k every second day with the rowing machine of 30 minutes every other dayLol, dad walks 1k every day love those two try are truly an inspiration for any one over 60 plus.
