What If I Said Ill Do That / Then Done It.

That’s how I see it sometimes, and one that I know I should do what I said or had planned. Do you ever say I’m going to do that or know you should do that, and then for some reason it does not occur or get done.

If you think about how many times we have said “I’m going on a diet,” “give up drinking,” “stop smoking,” “need to catch up with certain friends,” “get new clothes,” or “go on a holiday.” Now, let’s think about this for a minute. We would all be guilty at one time or many times where we are going to do something and it just does not happen.

Recently, I’ve been guilty of a few things. I’m going to do that, and even when I know I have to do that, it doesn’t happen. I make excuses, some genuine and some fabricated. lol, but for whatever reason, it happens. Is it a bad thing or just a thing when we make arrangements or set plans to do what needs to be done, and it doesn’t? I’ve been guilty of that a few times lately more than I should, but the excuse for me is my work commitments with my job.

Okay, giving up smoking and my excuse is work. Watch what you eat. In other words, a diet would be of benefit. Lol, well drinking is one already sorted as I don’t drink. Same with drugs, I don’t do drugs. The smoking should not be an excuse as it’s slowly killing me. That should be number one on any list, with the diet number two. I find my body is struggling with hip and knee problems, so let’s be real, I’m a fat fuck. Could not be any more honest.

One thing I’ve learned in life is that your best and most honest critic should be yourself. What we see in the mirror is not a trick image or special cinematic photography; it’s you. So what you see is what you are, a way of improving if needed, in which we all can improve in some way with our looks, personality, and attitude. We will never be perfect, but it’s good to try to fine-tune yourself to be as good as we can.

I do a lot of thinking as I’m on my own a lot, especially when I’m away with work. The main thought on my mind is that I’m not happy with what I see in the mirror. One way to tackle that is to strip down to bare skin and stand there, changing the stance, sideways left, sideways right, straight in front. There is a saying that it’s the heart, attitude, and personality that count. Lol, Mmm, no, not really. People do judge the cover of most books, and mine is like a beached whale. The smoking, I’m coughing more than I should, struggling with my breathing sometimes. So who the fuck am I kidding in saying I’ll do that? It’s number one on any “going to do that” list.

Today I woke up at home. I have been working 14 hours a day for the last three days, but today was a bonus. Didn’t need to work. A little light knock on my door at 7am with “Are you awake Pop?” with the most beautiful smile as the door opens slowly. An afternoon out with the grandson at the movies. Take notice, it’s not about “what if I’ll do that?” It’s about “it needs to be done now, not tomorrow.”

The hardest thing in life sometimes is admitting that you need to take control as you’re messing up. Don’t make excuses, be honest. Sacrifice what is needed to be done. No more excuses, as I know and understand that my kids and grandkids love me very much. We have an amazing bond, so why rush death? It’s going to happen, hopefully in 30 more years. How does that happen? Do what is needed to be done and reap the rewards.
