How Much Would I Pay To Go To The Moon.

Thats a good question as I have never thought about it, I do look up when it’s at its beauty of brightness as it lights up the ground and looks in arur with amazing colour.

There Was A Time

There was a particular time when I thought, “Wow, I’d love to be on there.” Well, actually, twice were the mind wondered in standing on the moon, looking down on Earth as it shined. My ex-wife and I (that’s a horrible thing to say “ex,” but true) were traveling around Australia and just spent two months at a surfing spot on the great Australian Bite called Cactus out in the middle of nowhere, but surf wow.

We had been on the road for two days heading to the east coast and had already traveled the Victorian coast road. We considered going through the center of Australia into more desert country, then cutting across to Sydney and up to Coffs Harbour. We were a couple of hundred kilometers into the journey when we came around a big sweeping bend. And pow! The moon was so big and bright, it was huge.

To this day, I had never seen anything so big. It was right in front of us. We stopped on the side of the road and looked at this huge, massive picture of an amazing sight. Wow! Even Maree mentioned to the kids just recently about that sighting on one of our road trips. We drove all into the night with no lights on and could see everything for miles so clear, even watching the wombats and roos go across the desert 3 or 4 hundred meters away from us.

The other time was I’m on a swing in the Pilbara, and this particular time on night shift, we were 100 ks from camp in the middle of nowhere looking after a road for Rio, with no permits and no travel allowed on this particular road. It was so dark but light if that makes sense, like a Stephen King scene. Even the other crew 2 ks away commented on the eerie feeling this had.

The stars were so bright and millions of them, I mean the sky was full, mesmerizing and spellbinding. As the night went on, the moon was arising and, wow, one of the crew got on the two-way to me, saying, “Mags, have a look at the moon, it’s awesome!” True to his word, it was breathtaking. I just sat outside the ELV with Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” bursting through the speakers. It is something I can picture, with both those moments when I see the moon in full color and quietness, cruising around Earth in all its glory.

Would I pay to go to the moon? Not sure, but to say it would be brilliant to see Earth from a different perspective and get the true feeling of the size of our planet, and the countries’ landscapes and shapes that make Earth what it is.
